After fans had been waiting for weeks for BORN PINK, Blackpinks' second album, the album was eventually released on Friday, September 16 after their debut, The Album, released in October 2020. The album, which consists of eight songs, was released a month after Pink Venom, their solo track.

Shut Down is a music that takes the consistent charisma BLACKPINK has displayed so far to the next level, before releasing the song's title. The fusion of traditional and contemporary hip hop beats is remarkable and has the appeal of sounding fresh and very catchy.

Shut Down, the title track for the album, is described as a sampling of Paganinis La Campanella, and the use of this classic component will enhance the dark and mysterious aura the original song exudes. Shut Down is a notable song due to the seamless mixing of traditional and modern hip-hop melodies.

The MV depicts them having fun together, and the song expresses their feelings like K-Pop queens. The straightforward but powerful MV contains many visual references to previous music videos, bringing back fond memories for the viewers. It's the sort of tune that you'll keep hearing over and over in your head.

Blackpink released their single Pink Venom, a hip-hop track that spanned pop-rap, electronic music, and traditional Korean music. It received over 86.2 million views in just 24 hours after it was released, becoming the most popular YouTube video debut in 2022.
