So far, Warzone 2 has received mixed reviews from the community, and CoD expert Kris 'FaZe Swagg' Lamberson has explained all the ways he believes the original gameplay was 'ruined.'
Since it was released in 2022, the Warzone 2 has proved to be a divisive game, because many members were dissatisfied with many of the major changes made in the sequel. Fortunately, the developers have announced that Season 2 will remove some of these differences.
The next update will bring back the 1v1 Gulag, eliminate the controversial backpack looting system, and introduce the popular Resurgence mode, complete with a new Ashika Island map.
Despite the slew of changes that will come in Season 2, CoD pro FaZe Swagg remains adamant that Warzone 2 has gone too far from what made the original so successful.
"The game got ruined." Swagg said in a recent broadcast, which began at 26:40. "They just had to keep adding on to it — maybe some innovations." I just wish Infinity Ward never developed to a point where it became, quite frankly, monotonous."
Starting with the addition of Sniper Rifles, he explained all the different gameplay choices that he thinks make Warzone 2 less effective than the original game.
“You took away Sniping, right?” Swagg asked. “For most of the game, the most popular guns were Snipers. All the kids, even the dads, loved rocking Snipers because it was so satisfying to get a one-shot headshot.
Next, Swagg criticized how difficult it was to get a loadout at launch, claiming that the decision was "trash," although this will be resolved entirely in Season 2. Then he criticized the lack of movement in Warzone 2, claiming that the developers overlooked the problem:
“Was slide canceling something that was broken?” I think it was fun. What really happened, in my opinion, was Stims. Stims are what made people believe movement was f**king broken, and a lot of the bots were displeased.
While there are a slew of adjustments planned for the Season 2 update, there is still no word on whether or not Sniper Rifles and movement will be addressed. Swagg clearly believes there is still a long way to go before Warzone 2 recreates the thrills of the first game.
