The 24th of June, 2022, though only a few months ago, has already established itself as a historic day in American history. It is the date that the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a decision essential to personal privacy and abortion rights, and has sparked celebrations and protests from both sides of the decades-long debate over abortion rights and bodily autonomy. The new documentary, Battleground, will premiere in theaters on October 7, 2022.
Cynthia Lowen's film Battleground follows three women who claim to be anti-abortion activists in their quest to overturn Rove v. Wade, a key Supreme Court decision. The film will also explore those who are fighting for the right to keep abortion access.
Many states have already banned abortion services and healthcare as a result of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision. Additionally, anti-abortion legislation is currently advancing to the federal level thanks to one Lindsey Graham. But more important, it's important to highlight an issue that affects so many people across the United States.
