For the past few months, Street Fighter followers have been a little concerned about ol Ken Masters. After the artwork of Ken's new appearance in Street Fighter 6 was leaked, along with some disturbing personal news for Ryus longtime rival, things were looking pretty bleak. However, Ken is not divorcing his loving wife in Street Fighter 6.
Aber the real story that explains Ken's downtrodden new appearance isn't that great.
Ken was revealed to be disgruntled, grungy, and generally depressed in Street Fighter 6 and Street Fighter 3, the previous two games in the topsy-turvy series. A supposedly leaked narrative in which his wife, Eliza, had shown him the door and served him divorce papers, exacerbated Ken's impression.
Eliza kicked Ken out and took the kids because of his love of street fighting, despite his comfortable position in life as the heir to a multibillion dollar hotel fortune. The true story, revealed in Ken's new bio on the Street Fighter website, is quite different. Capcom states that Ken is now the ex-VP of the Masters Foundation, and that allegations of orchestrating a criminal plot have forced Ken to abandon his family and business.
So, things for poor Ken are still a bit difficult, even for Eliza and their son, Mel, who are apparently on the streets, who aren't allowed to see him until he's been framed for a crime he didn't commit. Who's behind Ken's? Shadaloo? The Mad Gear Gang? The Secret Society? Perhaps the story mode will help clarify things when it's released next year.
