Metroid is one of Nintendo's most well-known franchises, with even casual gamers likely to recognize the armor-clad Samus Aran out of a lineup. The most popular game in the series, Metroid Prime, was recently remastered by a developer from the original.
The original Metroid Prime remaster gets a single credit that says the remaster is based on the original game. One of the developers who developed the game, Zoid Kirsch, has come out and said he's "let down" by the game's lack of credit to the teams that created the original title.
The fact that it's a remaster and not a remake implies that it's built on the foundation of the original game, but it's just updated for the current-gen console. This makes the absence of credits even more jarring, since many of the names excluded likely still had their work included in the game's final version.
After many other developers have been dissatisfied with the lack of credit in the last few months, Kirsch has made several comments. One example is the developers from The Callisto Protocol, who were also dissatisfied with being excluded. This has sparked a nationwide discussion about bigger companies making sure to include everyone who participated in their creation.
Sadly, Nintendo will not be able to release a patch just to include the names of the missing developers. Even if it does, this should be something that the publisher will keep in mind going forward.
