If you've ever wanted to express gratitude to fellow players in Destiny 2, you're in luck thanks to a new feature that will be released later this month in the game's Lightfall expansion.
Sometimes when playing solo with random matchmade teammates, you'll notice yourself impressed with the synergy and want to express your thanks. That's what the new Commendations system is for.
Bungie said in a new blog post about the year of Lightfall. The Commendations system is the first step in strengthening stronger connections between Guardians this year.
"It can be difficult to reach out to someone you don't know." Commendations are an effective icebreaker — a straightforward way of saying thank you to players you enjoyed playing with. Over time, players will accumulate a ton of different praises that help you tell the story of how others in Destiny 2 perceive you.
Those who receive "Pacesetter" and "Saint's Favore" praises in Trials of Osiris will only be available in certain game modes. There are also "Perceptive" and "Knowledgeable" praises found in raids anddungeons.
“Those at the highest levels of Guardian Ranks will have demonstrated to be people that are consistently appreciated by others in the community,” Bungie said. “Sometimes it will be because, even if they aren't the kinds of people comfortable speaking up, they are always doing what is required to assist the group overcome the obstacle in front of them.”
Commendations are a badge of honor, a reward for playing well in Destiny 2. And that’s something most players should be able to support.
Bungie has announced that it would convert text chat from universal opt-in to opt-out, giving players "more frequent opportunities to reach out to a fellow Guardian."
Destiny 2 Lightfall will be released on February 28.
