No matter how bad things have gone in the past, virtually any property that has even the slightest hint of name recognition is always in danger of being rebuilt. For the first time, we're talking about something quite different in the video game adaptation Hitman.
The first attempt at bringing the bald-headed killer to the big screen made a profit after earning upwards of $100 million at the box office, but it was so terrible that star Timothy Olyphant slammed the film right out, calling it "a piece of shit." He claimed he only took the role because Deadwood had just purchased a house.
The Justified alum's brief stint under the spotlight appeared to be a standout performance compared to the Rupert Friend-led reboot Agent 47. The opening chapter may have only received a 16 percent review on Rotten Tomatoes, but it was still twice as good as the sequel's.
Remaking a bad film and making it worse is bonkers, but there are inexplicably still people out there who want to see another feature-length Hitman. Thankfully, Redditors aren't exactly foaming at the mouth over the prospect, but we can at least breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the intended episodic adaptation has gone by the wayside.
Everyone knows what the definition of insanity means, so we can't rule out a third Hitman with any certainty, which is a frightening prospect.
