The new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 teaser has reignited the debate over who dies ...

The new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 teaser was released during last night's Super Bowl, and as with previous trailers, it's clear the film will be a tearjerker. Some of the popular characters are unlikely to make it to the credits, with snatches of scenes showing the Star-Lord waving in displeasure over what appears to be a hospital, and apparent chest wounds.

The social media has been obsessing over the trailer, and there is consensus that someone will pick up the dust. So, who's going to take the chop?

Well, this will be Gunn's final MCU film (for the time being):

Rocket Raccoon appears to be a popular choice, though this would be particularly heartbreaking if he finds love in the arms of a space otter:

Everyone's favorite not-raccoon is attracted to a surprising amount of attention:

Secondly, we see Drax with a visible gaping chest injury. Can he walk this off?

He's not looking as hot here:

And, let's face it, the shot of Nebula tragically transporting Star-Lord's body is quite horrifying (though Rocket sucking down a smoothie at this sad moment might mean he isn't really dead):

Could it be a straight-up tragedy?

When Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives, you should absolutely pack some tissues, because the Marvel universe will never be the same again. And, without Gunn around to tell their tale, we think Marvel Studios would allow him to depart for the distinguished competition with a bang.

On May 5, 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in theaters.
