The Joker: Folie a Deux has added yet another actor to its cast, this time, Jacob Lofland, who is set to play a key role in the Arkham Asylum.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lofland has joined Joaquin Phoenix, who will reprise his role as the Joker from the first film, and Lady Gaga, who will play Harley Quinn in the second installment of the critically acclaimed DC comics film.
Lofland will play a key supporting role for an inmate at Arkham Asylum who ends up developing a friendship with Arthur Fleck/Joker.
Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener are also joining the cast, and Todd Philips will return to direct.
Joker 2 is expected to have a musical component, and is also believed to be set in Arkham Asylum, a jail for the criminally insane, although these are rare and far between.
On its release, the first Joker received widespread critical acclaim, and earned Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar for his role as the Clown Prince of Crime.
Back in August, Lady Gaga announced her involvement in the sequel by posting a teaser revealing her involvement in the cast.
As french music plays in the background, the Joker and Harley Quinn dance and stare intently at each other.
The short extract also indicated the film's release date, which will be on October 4, 2024. So we will have quite a long time to wait until we see this comic book adaptation transformed musical brought to life.
The sequel to Joker: Folie a deux has been announced and will be released in cinemas on October 4, 2024.
