The Flash trailer causes Supergirl's desperation, which is understandable ...

The Flash will be released this summer, after a long and controversious journey. The long-awaited solo appearance for Ezra Miller's DCU hero looks set to take Barry Allen across the multiverse, with the Super Bowl trailer revealing that his mucking with the material of space and time has resulted in an alternative Earth with no metahumans on it.

The events of Man of Steel appear to be going quite differently. With no Superman around, Michael Shannon's Zod scores an easy victory, likely resulting in the same skull-strewn hellscape as Clark's nightmare a decade ago. However, there may be one Kryptonian who is still willing to stand up.

Kara Zor-El, played by Sasha Calle, appears to have been imprisoned for years before Barry(s) freed her. Once Zod is released, Supergirl appears to be quick to wear the classic outfit and bring the fight to her:

Despite this, there are still doubts as to whether Calle will get his only appearance in the blue and red. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is a new DC Universe project that focuses on a different viewpoint of the character. With Gunn clearly wanting a gentle reset on his decisions before he takes over, chances are he'll remake the role.

But seeing Calle in action has sparked outrage on social media, so let's hope that popularity means that the Woman of Tomorrow Supergirl can continue to exist as an Elseworlds hero, and that Calle's main DCU character may continue to play her.

The Flash will be released in cinemas on June 15 2023.
