As The Flash is trashed for quite familiar reasons, the excitement fades in a suitably quick fashion ...

When it comes to blockbuster live-action films, comic book enthusiasts like to sharpen their knives immediately after the initial buzz wears off. The Flash may have won over more than a few opponents after releasing a stunning first trailer, but the reaction is already underway.

The Scarlet Speedster's long-awaited solo debut would be hailed as one of the greatest superhero films he'd ever seen by no less an expert than DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn.

Although this is a big budget and effects-driven epic, it wasn't until a moment before the visual effects were being poured over with the online equivalent of a fine-toothed comb, and the critics weren't particularly pleased with what they discovered.

Given the myriad of issues that have pushed The Flash back in the wake of not just the epidemic but also several boardroom reshuffles, we can always threw out the old excuse of "but there's still four months till release."

Regardless of how the end product turns out, not everyone will be happy with it, but let's spare a thought for Hollywood's CGI specialists in all of this, who happen to be the most overworked and underpaid artists in the industry.
