The main fault in Disney Dreamlight Valley was its Dream Shards, a resource that was so limited that many players, including me, were getting soft-locked out of the game for days on end. However, developer Gameloft claims to have addressed the issue by tweaking the game's resource balance issues and fixing other problematic bugs.
Dream Shards, a key resource, will now spawn more frequently as a reward for feeding animals, clearing thorns, and cleaning up sparkling dirt.
Dreamlight Valley is an early access game, and there are technical difficulties that have recently hampered some of that enjoyment. From what Ive heard and read, the Xbox Game Pass version is in excellent condition, but it's not constantly breaking or glitching out, which doesn't seem strange to me.
Ive reached a quest line that locks all of the villagers inside their houses, except goddamn Kristoff, Merlin, and Rapunzels mother. After 19 hours, I have none. Only a few thorns spawn a day unless you unlock a new area. I've grinded cooking and fishing to unlock Dreamlight points instead.
My house is stuffed with cooked fish and fruit cups. (I couldnt sell any items either, as a result of everyone being locked in their houses.)
After a few hours, I had enough Dreamlight points to unlock a new area filled with thorns. Unfortunately, these thorns gave me coins and seeds not a single Dream Shard. So I had to start the process of grinding Dreamlight points again in hopes of one day finding five Dream Shards.
Because of the problem I discovered via trawling the developer's Twitter account, my problems were resolved; my town is now free. So if you're having this issue, double-check your mailbox even though there's nothing in the game that indicates you've got mail. It's a Band-Aid on a design flaw.
Dream Shards shouldn't be a problem due to this update, which Gameloft claims will roll out in the next couple of hours. However, if they are, please keep in mind that your mailbox is also holding Dream Shards.
Gameloft had forgotten that any other items, including flowers, and other foraged resources, were spawning slowly, but the Night Shard change will give a lot of players plenty more freedom.
