Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 and the other major announcements from Call of Duty Next ...

Activision held its latest Call of Duty presentation on Thursday, where the company revealed new information about Modern Warfare 2 and the free-to-play battle royale sequel Warzone 2.0. Among the most significant announcements was the release date for Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, which will be available November 16 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Here are the main Call of Duty next announcements to help you sort through all the other acts that Activision made during the event.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0

Warzone 2.0 is a massive new variation of Call of Duty's iconic battle royale shooter. Al Mazrah will feature a brand new map with new features and attractions to explore. Warzones Gulag will also include a new player interface, including a prowling guard and weapons scattered throughout the map.

With several circles across the map that will segregate players before eventually reuniting them for a few crucial fights, the game also introduces a new twist on the battle royale formula.

Warzone 2.0 will include all of the weapons from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which will be released on October 26, and the two games will feature cross-progression. Players will also be challenged with entering the battlefield and then extracting whatever gear they can.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer and Loadout 2.0

Infinity Ward shared further information on the multiplayer mode in Modern Warfare 2 and how it differs from previous Call of Duty entries during the Next presentation.

The Loadout 2.0 system, built on Infinity Wards weapon customization from 2019's Modern Warfare, will allow players to customize their weapon more precisely according to their weapon platform. This feature will also be included in Warzone 2.0, giving players more options for customizing their gear.

Modern Warfare 2 will enhance the Call of Duty multiplayer formula in a variety of ways, including enhanced sprinting, swimming, and mantling. Other new features include the return of the cooperative Spec Ops mode, and AI players on certain extra-large maps and modes.

During the presentation, Infinity Ward mentioned a new mode called Raids, but did not go into too much detail on it.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta

Modern Warfare 2 was already in the works, but Infinity Ward revealed some of the gameplay features during the brief testing period in the next Call of Duty installment.

The beta will feature a six-versus-six mode, as well as a Ground War mode, which will pit two teams of 32 players against each other and take place inside three Warzone 2.0 locations.

Modern Warfare 2's new tactical modes, like Knockout and Prisoner rescue, will be included in the beta, as well as a new mode called Invasion, where 32-player teams face-off against each other in a deathmatch.

The PlayStation Pre-Order Phase for Modern Warfare 2 will begin on September 16 for PlayStation players who pre-ordered the game, and will be released on other platforms later, including Xbox and PC on September 22.
