The money heist hype train may not be slowed anytime soon by Netflix. Professor (lvaro Morte) and Inspector Raquel Murillo (Itziar Ituo) were enthralled by the unusual cat-and-mouse game. Despite how interesting and popular these characters are, Andrés de Fonollosa (Pedro Alonso) was the show's main antagonist.
Andrés — better known by his stage name Berlin — became a fan favorite in the series due to his ruthlessness, his brother, and his character development. But in the remaining seasons, the robber made frequent appearances in flashbacks, as Money Heist explored Berlin's life before the heist on the Royal Mint of Spain.
Netflix announced that a spinoff focused on Berlin would be in the works in November 2021, during a special event with the cast of the show in Madrid. On February 7, 2023, the streaming platform released the first teaser trailer, which gave viewers an idea of when Berlin would be released on the platform.
What will be the significance of Berlin's arrival, and what will it be about?
Netflix has yet to disclose a specific release date, but fans can be assured that Berlin will be released in 2023. The spinoff is scheduled to premiere sometime in December, and will give viewers an insight into its antagonist.
Berlin will serve as a prequel to Money Heist, exploring the character's earlier years as he stole all over Europe, madly in love. During Netflix's 2022 Tudum event, Alex Pina — the writer of the show — shared that "this will be a journey through the character's golden years."
At the time of writing, little information about the show had been released. However, a new cast of characters is expected to join the story. Keila (Michelle Jenner), Cameron (Begoa Vargas), Roi (Julio Pea), Damián (Tristán Ulloa), and Bruce (Joel Sánchez) There is a possibility that some familiar faces from Money Heist may be introduced.
Berlin will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix when the time comes.
