When streaming sales for Netflix surpassed DVD rentals for the first time in 2009, 20th Century Fox released the comforting comedy I Love You, Beth Cooper, which transformed the Chris Columbus vehicle from being just another high school film into a sleeper hit, almost catching the impact of Superbad, which had just been released a couple of years earlier in order to fill a gap in popular culture.

Beth Cooper – Hayden Panettiere
Hayden Panettiere was not just the star of the film when I Love You, but by far the most popular name in the cast. While attempting to get her a TV career underway, she was cast as Claire Bennet in the NBC series Heroes, putting her profile in the spotlight.
Panettiere was able to excel in the television series Nashville and be one of the few bright spots in Scream 4. However, she was unable to get out of this category [cheerleader] very quickly, and she did take on the controversial role of Amanda Knox in the film of the same name. She has a daughter with former heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
Panettiere has been open about her mental health issues, most notably in a candid interview with Good Morning America about her post-partum depression after the birth of her daughter. However, fans will be surprised to learn that she has just appeared in the latest installment in the Scream franchise, and she continues to carry out important advocacy work around women's mental health and domestic violence.
Dennis Cooverman – Paul Rust
Panettiere was already an established actor by the time I Love You, Beth Cooper was released, but Paul Rust, who co-starred with her, was still making a name for himself in Hollywood and beyond. His role as valedictorian Dennis Cooverman was his first attempt at directing a major picture.
Rust has since received a fair amount of recognition for his roles in several well-known films, including writing and starring in the Netflix adaptation of Judd Apatow's Love (he wrote the program alongside his wife, fellow comedy writer Lesley Arfin). Rich Munsch – Jack Carpenter
Jack Carpenter was a small name when he took on the role of sexually confused Rich Munsch, but with this hilarious performance his acting career has been more consistent than explosive in the past few years. In the time since I Love You, Beth Cooper, Jack has had roles in programs like Law and Order and The Good Wife, the latter of which gave him a five-episode run. The Gilmore Girls mini-series, which reintroduced viewers to Stars Hollow for the final time.
Treece – Lauren Storm
Lauren Storm was a Malcolm in the Middle alum, having previously had roles in 24 and CSI: Miami the previous year.
Beth Cooper Lauren appears to be getting more involved in her new role as an acting coach and supporting causes she believes are most important to her. Her last acting role was in 2017.
Cammy – Lauren London
Lauren London was already a well-known cast member of I Love You, Beth Cooper, thanks to her roles in music videos with world-renowned actors like Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and Pharrell Williams, as well as a big role in the documentary 90210 and Everybody Hates Chris. She's also a regular contributor on television shows and films, as well as starring in the CW show The Game in your book You People, which has been one of the first streaming successes in 2023
Kevin – Shawn Roberts
Shawn Roberts, who plays Beth's soldier boyfriend in I Love You, has the longest record of cast roles, with tens of thousands of credits across film and television. He had previous roles in Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Jumper, and even the 2000 X-Men film.
Roberts followed his role as meathead Kevin into a zombie film career, with roles in the Resident Evil franchise as well as a host of other films about our undead friends. His most recent appearance was on the CBC show Murdoch Mysteries in 2022.
Alan Ruck – Mr. C
Hayden Panattiere was the hottest name in I Love You, Beth Cooper, and Alan Ruck was undoubtedly the most popular film out of all the cast, having played Cameron in iconic Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He was also in Speed and Twister, a career that included a lot of experience!
Ruck has been cast in a number of highly successful films and television programs since his 2009 comedy Succession, but his most popular, and most recent role has been as Connor Roy on HBO's Succession. His portrayal of the somewhat minor but enormously entitled eldest child of the Roy clan has received praise from fans and critics, while also giving him the chance to demonstrate a surprising array of talents.
Valli Wooley – Marie Avgeropoulos
When Beth Cooper accepted the role of vain, rich Valli in the 2009 comedy, Avgeropoulos was practically a newbie to acting. Until then, she'd only appeared in commercials in her native Canada, and she's now getting consistent work on both sides of the border.
Avgeropoulos was cast in the post-apocalyptic CW series The 100 in 2015, while Nick Offerman is scheduled to play the fiercely independent Octavia in the John Kennedy Toole biopic Butterfly in the Typewriter.
