UIW vs Prairie View A&M Preview

When it faces Prairie View A&M (1-1) on Saturday, Incarnate Word (2-0) hopes to keep its strong start to the season going.

The UIW Cardinals won 40-9 over the PVAMU Panthers last season. The Cardinals went on to a 10-3 season and nearly eliminated defending FCS champion Sam Houston in the p layoffs. The Panthers finished 7-5, culminating with a competitive match against Deion Sanders Jackson State.

UIW won a 65-29 victory over Southern Illinois in the FBS, 55-41. Cardinals quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. thrown for 406 yards and four touchdowns against the Nevada Wolfpack.

Scott has had a great season with 797 yards and 10 touchdowns against an interception. He completes 70% of his passes and averages 15.9 yards per completion. He can also carry heavy objects with his legs.

Marcus Cooper is the Cardinals' leading rusher, with 116 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Cooper averages five yards per carry, but second-leading rusher Jarrell Wiley averages more on the ground, with 7.1 yards per attempt. Wiley has 107 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Brandon Porter, a Cardinals wide receiver, showed that he is capable of throwing the ball once this season, with six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Darion Chafin is the Cardinals' leading receiver with 11 catches for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Taylor Grimes is also a threat in the passing game. Grimes has nine receptions for 227 yards and two touchdowns so far.

The Panthers' defense will be put to the test by the Cardinals' dynamic offense. So far, the Panthers defense has kept opponents in check with a 40-23 victory over Texas Southern, and the Panthers allowed only 21 points in a loss against Abilene Christian the following week.

Trazon Connely, the Panthers' quarterback, is capable of making plays. He has a 51.2 completion rate, but he can also throw the ball 121 yards and two touchdowns against Texas Southern.

Jaden Steward, a running back, has thrown 120 yards and two touchdowns in his first two games on the season. He averages 5.5 yards on the ground and is capable of making plays in the passing game. He gained 20 yards on one reception in the season opener.
