With James Gunn having a finger in both Marvel and DC pizzas, yesterday's Super Bowl trailers had a bit of something for everyone, no matter where their comic book affiliations lie.
Besides the newly-minted head of DC Studios, two of the trailers shown yesterday have something in common: the filmmaker behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Flash. There was also a triple-appearance (two trailers and a commercial) by Ben Affleck, but that's a story for another time.
Gunn became something of a "King of the Nerds" figurehead similar to J.J Abrams in the early 2010s, who was almost simultaneously commandeering both Star Trek and Star Wars films.
Both the director of photography of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Flash, Henry Braham, would ensnare both jobs in the world of cinematography.
After revealing Michael Keaton in a bat jacket, among other returning Batmen, a returning Man of Steel villain, and Supergirl, the Flash sparked considerable (and understandable) interest. We can't discount the other noteworthy spoilerish information that we think may have slipped past Kevin Feige.
The Flash will be released on June 16, 2023, then the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released.
