The Tokyo Game Show for 2022 has come and gone. Some presentations, like Xbox, wowed viewers with a well-organized program that highlighted a wide range of games in a succinct manner. Others, like Square Enix, divided their presentation into multiple broadcasts that didn't provide any real insight into the games.
Square Enix hired three comedians to perform the majority of its presenting duties, covering Forspoken, Crisis Core, and Star Ocean. They walked through set pieces of demos, providing bleak observations through monotone translators.
The second segment consisted of an arena fight against two Oni-like creatures. The first segment was more of a compilation of shots, showing off character interactions, summons like Cactuar and Bahamut, and the slot system.
Crisis Core looks to be a solid game that combines original PSP gameplay with enhanced graphics that puts it on par with the Final Fantasy VII Remake. It will fill in a lot of gaps for those who missed it, especially with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth coming out next year.
