San Diego vs UC Davis Preview

In week three, the 0-2 UC Davis Aggies football team will begin their home slate against the 1-1 University of San Diego Toreros. This is the eighth all-time meeting between the two teams, and the Aggies have an all-time lead of 8-1.

Dan Hawkins, UC Davis' head coach, said in his pre-game press conference that the team is ready for a victory.

Last week was a good game, and I was proud of the way our guys played and the intensity they displayed, said Hawkins, adding, We see the seeds of greatness growing around here. The determination we showed down the end in coming back will serve us well, I think our guys played hard. Did some nice things on offense. We need to clean up a few things.

Coach Hawkins also stated that any time they face the Toreros, it will be a battle.

We have a dismal San Diego team that has fought us hard. A couple years ago, we would have lost that game. They are a well-coached football team, according to Hawkins. Itll be fun to be home on Saturday, hoping we will have a good crowd.

I believe we have a good football team. We just have to coach a little better and be cleaner. Were having a tough schedule, but that's why you play. We just have to keep our oars in the water and keep rowing, said Hawkins.

We practice every day, just bringing the energy, making sure it's high-tempo, everyone's upbeat, and added redshirt freshman defensive back Rex Connors.

Connors said he loves that he gets to play with his twin brother, who is an outside linebacker on the team.

It's an amazing guy, since we were all littel kdids. Being able to go to college with him has been a real blessing. He's always there for me and it's nice to have a supporter like that.

The San Diego Toreros vs. the UC Davis Aggies game will begin on ESPN Plus on Saturday, September 17 at 10 p.m.
