In Apex Legends, gravity cannons are a two-edged sword. Sure, they are a great way to cover large distances on the game's biggest map. However, they can also be a bit of a death trap if a team happens to be waiting for you to land on the other side.

If youre losing a fight and have no other options, a gravity cannon escape might be your best bet. The team youre chasing might reconsider when they land, momentarily stunned in the open. Thats why preventing an escape on gravity cannons is so important when you are attempting to grab a few lives.

After activating a gravity cannon, you may stop a player from getting away with it using Ashs arc snare. A Valkyrie player created a different method, which is so simple it's genius.

freethebes had a team on the ropes at Storm Point, with their enemies trying to flee by reversing the gravity cannon at Thunder Watch down to Storm Catcher. Thinking quickly, freethebes used Valks VTOL Jets to glide up and directly into the path of the gravity cannon. A couple of bonks later, freethebes and his crew earned a free kill.

The enemy bounces off of the Valkyrie character model because it has to be resisted by the gravity cannon, despite their near-vertical trajectory. Because the gravity cannon would normally shoot them forward at a steep upwards-angle, they bounce back on what amounts to a flat surface.

It's not rocket science, but it's a simple, obvious approach that many players might not have considered before, that they may now add to their own gravity cannon shenanigans. Just remember: objects in front of the gravity cannon are closer than they appear.
