Fresno State vs USC Preview

USC (2-0) is tied for the seventh place in the nation when it faces Fresno State (1-1) on Saturday.

After a 66-14 victory over Rice last week, the Trojans won 41-28. However, fears continued that USC would not be able to defeat Stanford easily.

USC head coach Lincoln Riley said via 247 Sports about his team's 12 months ago. This is a solid Stanford team that has a lot changed. Im proud of our guys' attitude.

Riley explained that we may have intentionally slowed [the pace] down a bit. However, slowing it down doesnt mean you dont execute. You can call a play and snap it with 30 seconds left or snap with five seconds left, but you still have to execute. And when we slowed it down, our execution decreased.

Caleb Williams, a quarterback at USC, has a high-powered offense that has five90 yards of passing and six touchdowns this season, compared to zero interceptions. He can also run plays with his legs, too. He has 72 yards rushing this season, most of it against Rice.

Fresno State Head Coach Jeff Tedford said via 247 Sports that they are both huge and powerful. They are excellent football players. Excellent tacklers. Their rank is well earned. There are no flaws in their armor. Different schemes and a lot of movement. You can't beat them if you're athletic like they are.

Fresno State is facing a tough task following a dismal showing against Oregon State last week. OSU's Jack Colletto led the Bulldogs to a last-second touchdown run. The Bulldogs won easily the week before, 35-7, in their opener against Cal Poly.

Riley said via 247 Sports that there aren't many weaknesses. They're just, they're excellent everywhere. The quarterbacks (Jake Haener) are terrific. The safety (Evan Williams), 32s is a great athlete. Couple d-linemen that stand out. Theyre also very experienced, they know how to win. So I think those are some of the toughest teams because there aren't you just don't spot a ton of weaknesses on tape.
