Many Apex Legends players are unsure if Arenas will return following his absence from the game in Season 16.
Season 16 of Apex Legends brings a fresh look to the battle royale, including a new AR that will compete with the R-301 and Flatline, as well as a completely revamped Legend class system.
The developers have been busy reworking the game in other ways, rather than releasing a new Legend. However, the update does mark the end of Arenas, the 3v3 round-based gameplay many had grown to love since its introduction in Season 9.
This has prompted the question whether or not this mode will ever again exist, which we'll try to answer below.
- Why is Respawn getting rid of Arenas in Apex Legends?
- When will Arenas return to Apex Legends?
Why is Apex Legends void of Arenas?
Arenas will be removed from the game permanently in Apex Legends Season 16, since it will first be replaced with the new TDM mode and then the Mixtape playlist.
The reason for deciding to phase out Arenas was that they felt the mode wasn't fulfilling their expectations and they didn't have the gameplay cycle they desired for the mode.
Arenas in Apex Legends seemed to be just nipping the boat for the developers, so they decided it would be best to remove it.
When will Arenas return to Apex Legends?
Arenas' removal, according to Apex Legends developers, was a permanent one, as the developers have dubbed it a "sunset," which was the same term used for Apex Legends' shutting down.
In the past, the developers have used the term "never say never," so it might be the same for Arenas. If any additional information is released about Arenas returning, we'll be sure to update this article.
