Will Modern Warfare 2 have ranked play?
Treyarch has confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 will be ranked play after initially being teased at the Call of Duty Next event.
The studio that created the Black Ops series revealed that they would be collaborating with their partners to bring the long-rumored Ranked Play mode to Modern Warfare 2.

Ranked Play will be released with the update on February 15, according to the developers.
Treyarch has confirmed that Ranked Play will be available on the day of the update and not later on during Modern Warfare 2 Season 2.
Modern Warfare 2 enthusiasts who want to climb the ranks are nearing the end. At the moment, players may still enjoy the CDL Moshpit mode to scratch their competitive claws.

In Ranked Play, Modern Warfare 2 players will follow the Call of Duty League rules and restrictions. For those who aren't familiar with the CDL, this means 4v4 matches with certain weapon restrictions are required.
You'll need to be at least Level 16 to access Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play. Fortunately, all unrestricted weapons, attachments, equipment, and rewards will be automatically unlocked for your use.

Modern Warfare 2's Ranked Play ranks & rewards
The Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 blog reveals what players may expect from Ranked Play in 2023.
Rangked Play will feature seven Skills Divisions, from the lowest Bronze Division to the very top with the Iridescent Division. Players will have the opportunity to climb into the Top 250, which can be regarded as the cream of the crop.
“Your name will be displayed on a special Top 250 leaderboard if you get past Iridescent.” Blogging all the way up to the Top 250 will earn you incredible honors.
Modern Warfare 2 players will have a Skill Rating, also known as SR, which will determine your Skill Division, therefore it's the number you'll want to see increase after each match.

Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play will include a different set of ranks separate from SR or Skill Divisions. This will allow players to progress from Ranks 1 to 50, unlike SR.
Every player will start at Rank 1 and Every 5 Ranks will provide an update to the player's Rank icon and "award a set of exclusive Ranked Play rewards," including skins at Rank 5 and 50.
Players can expect to earn Skill Division Skins based on their highest rank in a given season. The first time you finish in the Gold Division or above will receive an exclusive one-time reward.
