The star of Alita: Battle Angel has yet to give up hope for a James Cameron-approved sequel ...

James Cameron is currently engaged in a war with... himself. Avatar: The Way of Water has climbed the all-time box office charts, defeating big names like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Infinity War, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. But right now, it is competing for a third position with Titanic, which is getting re-released.

Maybe it's time to revisit another film with Cameron's trademarks all over it: Alita: Battle Angel. The 2019 sci-fi action film had long been a favorite project of his, though he pushed aside plans to direct it, handed the reins to Robert Rodriguez, and acted as a producer.

Alita wasn't a huge box office hit, but it was by no means a flop, and though the film ends on a cliffhanger, we've had no signs of a sequel. In an interview with Screenrant, star Christoph Waltz was asked if he'd return.

The rest of the cast and crew are eager to start working on a sequel, and actress Rosa Salazar has stated that she'll return to the character in a heartbeat.

Why not use some of the Avatar money to make Alita 2? It may be a Disney Plus film or television series at this point, because the original is one of the most underrated films in recent years. Let's make it happen.
