After fans noticed that Yakuza: Ishin is now titledLike A Dragon: Ishin in the West, RGG has also dropped Yakuza from its title completely. Yokoyama has confirmed that the change did begin with the 2020s Yakuza: Like A Dragon.

Yookoyama said during the Tokyo Game Show 2022 that he would consult with IGN.

If we didn't have Yakuza: Ishin, people would be like, What is this game? We'd rather leave Yakuza out of the title, which we've already used in [Yakuza 7] so we'd be fine.It's not Yakuza: Ishin! That's not what the game is about. So Like A Dragon: Ishin!

Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and Like A Dragon 8 are the next two games in the series. The first is centered around Kiryu Kazuma and is based on events that took place after Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. The second involves both Kiryu and Ichiban Kasuga, who played Kiryu in the 2020 film Like A Dragon.
