One thing is certain about Disney Plus' Marvel content: there are a slew of shows. Almost every week we get a new She-Hulk or Ms. Marvel or whatever buzzy item that is launching next — with barely any time to breathe.
Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, spoke with EW recently on the subject of the movie, and how the studio intends to handle releases in the near future. As the sequel to Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania is set to release, Feige wants to set the stage for what will follow in the future.
"I think one of the great things about being at Marvel Studios is having these films and shows hit the Zeitgeist," he said, while also stating that it's "harder to hit the zeitgeist when there's so much product out there," which is a term that I hate.
However, he concedes that acquiring that cultural cache isn't as easy when you're releasing films at the same rate as Nestlé is destroying the earth. That's why things will be a little different going forward.
"So, people will notice that as we get further into Phases 5 and 6, the speed at which we're putting out the Disney+ programs will vary, so they each have a chance to shine." Does he mean releasing them farther apart, or do he mean fewer shows overall? "Both," he said.
As the year progresses, we'll see if that's true. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is released on February 17 in theaters.
