The "silly" horror film has had an almost immediate resurgence in 2023, and two murderous bear-related films have been released in quick succession, namely Cocaine Bear and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
Cocaine Bear is the ideal choice for those of us who aren't keen on ruining childhood Disney characters or who prefer something that's rather loosely based on actual events.
Universal has released a little something new to entice interested fans until then, a Pac-Man-style video game that you can play right in your browser:
Players may slide into the paws of a drug-addled bear and hunt down unidentified victims along the map, while keeping an eye on the game's supply of cocaine. Yes, it's a great game.
The title of the film, for those who are new to Cocaine Bear, enlightens you with all you need to know about it. A black bear discovers and chows down on a duffel bag stuffed with cocaine. All of the usual chaos you would expect from an adult bear that is addicted to coke ensues.
We will have to wait and see if or not the film will be successful — although early speculation from horror enthusiasts is pretty much split down the middle. All will be revealed when Cocaine Bear enters cinemas on February 24, 2023.
