With the start of Call of Duty Season 2, which begins February 15, it's time to get serious about multiplayer. Treyarch has removed the curtain on its new version of the multiplayer game's competitive ranked mode, which it claims to offer greater rewards and a more intuitive way of judging where you land on the scale.
Modern Warfare 2's Ranked mode is a 4v4 multiplayer mode that will be available at level 16. All weapons and attachments will be automatically unlockable within the mode, so no one has access to equipment that isn't available to other players.
The map pool for Hardpoint includes Al Bagra Fortress, Breenbergh Hotel, El Asilo, Embassy, and Zarqwa Hyrdoelectric. Control matches will be held on Al Bagra Fortress, Breenbergh Hotel, and El Asilo.
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 divisions are called Divisions.
The new ranked mode has a total of eight skill divisions: bronze, silver, gold, diamond, crimson, and the top 250. Each skill division below iridescent has three levels or subdivisions to work your way through. This year, you'll be able to see the team affiliation for any Call of Duty League pros in that top 250 leaderboard.
When forming squads in ranked mode, there are a few guidelines you must follow. Players from bronze through platinum may team up without difficulty, but diamond- and crimson-ranked players can only team up with other players within two skill divisions. Iridescent and top 250 players can only form parties with players within one skill division.
Your SR score is based on your wins and losses during the season: winning matches gives you more SR, while losing decreases it. However, there are exceptions: you will not lose SR if a teammate quits or disconnects during a match, but you can still earn SR if your team wins anyway.
There are 50 ranks to progress through, apart from skill divisions, and special bonuses for completing specific milestones. You'll also earn rewards at the end of the season depending on the highest skill division you played during the season.
