The season 19 finale of Destiny 2 will be released today, bringing together humankind, the Eliksni, and the Awaken in a quest against time to confront forces led by Eramis, an Eliksni leader who has a vendetta against the Traveler for leaving her people when they needed it the most. The Witness is a multi-faced creature players first saw at the conclusion of the popular FPS game The Witch Queen.
Ana Bray tapped into the wisdom of her grandfather, Clovis Bray, to restore Rasputin, an AI Warmind, who may be humanity's only hope to halt the threat of Eramis, Xivu Ararth, and The Witness this season. However, things don't go as planned.
Final Dawn is one of the most important story beats in the Destiny 2 franchise's history. Abhorrent Imperative's primary quest mission is only playable on Legend difficulty with a capped power level of 1350. The result is both challenging and satisfying, a strong precursor to what players can expect from Lightfall given the direction of Destiny 2.
The quest line also offers information on how the Guardian will discover the city of Neomuna, which will be introduced in Lightfall, and various other hints as to why the Neptunian city might be important to Guardians and the future Destiny 2 Strand subclass.
The emotional conclusion closes the door on one of Destiny 2's finest expansions, eclipsing other fan favorite DLC like Forsaken and the original Destiny's The Taken King. Bungie envisions Lightfall as the game's penultimate expansion, and should answer long-standing questions about The Witness and the Guardians' relationship to the Light and Darkness.
The Witch Queen expansion and the Season Pass for Season 19, called Season of the Seraph, must be purchased by players. All story missions will unlock the final mission. Those who complete the mission will earn a special ship and an Ascendant Shard.
