Sadly, Multiversus Steam's monthly player count has dropped to a new low this week after a successful beta launch in July 2022. Brawlhalla is a fighting game that once fought back against the likes of the other.
Multiversus appeared to be a guaranteed hit, with a slew of Marvel and DC characters, alongside animation legends like Rick and Morty and Bugs Bunny. However, dissatisfaction with its seasonal updates, coupled with criticisms regarding microtransactions, seem to have weighed heavily on the game's PC storefront.
Multiversus failed to attract 1,000 concurrent Steam users for the first time in its history on Monday February 13, putting the game at 986 simultaneous users, according to an earlier assessment by VGC. On release day, this represents, specifically, a 99.3574% decrease in players in the first seven months.
Multiversus Season 2 has introduced only one new fighter, despite the game's strong character roster. Some character variations are also locked behind expensive paywalls, which may have prompted players to abandon the game in favor of a more affordable fighter.
Multiversus Season 3 has been postponed until March 31, according to the developer. Season 2 will be extended to assist players in "recovering some of their Steam playerbase."
