Valve has made several changes to its chart, including a new top 100 best-selling games list dating back to 2004. If you go back all the way, you will notice one single game leading the top 100 list. In fact, back then, it was only a top one list.
The original Counter-Strike, the greatest hit game from Valves, was a smash hit among players everywhere due to its simplistic concept of 1-v-1 or team battles. One side played as the terrorists, attempting to disrupt their plans by killing them all off or defusing the bomb.
As enjoyable as the game was, it came with a lot of flaws that were resolved over the years. Some of the most well-known bugs included the ones where you could fire bullets through certain walls, killing off less experienced players who had no knowledge of these issues. The majority of these bugs were resolved in version 1.6, which came out later.
A lot of other gaming companies jumped on board with the Counter-Strike series, especially its sequels Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Valves' repertoire has grown to the point where Steam is now the world's largest online gaming platform.
The new top 100 chart now allows you to navigate through all of Steam's current bestsellers, giving players an informed opinion about what is currently trending and what games they should try next. As previously mentioned, they can be sorted via various filters if you so desire.
More advanced filters will allow you to select your own region, especially if you are playing region-locked games or if you would rather play multiplayer games on a nearby server, thus lowering your latency. The new Steam top 100 charts cover everything you need to know.
