With Criterion Channels' fantastic October 80s horror lineup, Near Dark returns to streaming ...

Criterion Channel is kicking off the Halloween season with an avalanche of great horror movies as part of its 80s Horror series. The lineup starts on October 1 and includes classics from across the globe as well as under-the-radar gems. The big win? Near Dark, a film that is notoriously difficult to stream.

Near Dark is a 1987 horror-action vampire film directed by Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) that has seldom been available on streaming platforms for one reason or another. Tony Scotts The Hunger will also be included in the lineup on November 1.

Along with those vampire films, the series also includes films like John Carpenters Prince of Darkness, about a group of college students discovering something worse than the devil, Larry Cohens Q: The Winged Serpent, Dario Argentos Inferno, Tobe Hoopers The Funhouse, Michael Manns The Keep, and a dozen more great horror films from the 1980s.

Here's a list of all the movies Criterion Channel will be adding to its streaming service on October 1 (with the exception of The Hunger, which arrives a month later):
