As the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta continues to progress, we began to get a little better idea of which guns and loadouts will dominate the next installment in the franchise's bizarrely popular multiplayer experiences.
With some exceptions, anyone who has played a modern Call of Duty multiplayer mode will know exactly what to expect from Modern Warfare 2. Both games emphasize that long-time franchise users should be comfortable with boots on the ground and fast-paced multiplayer experiences.
Even if you don't have to, its a good idea to get a feel for the weapons that dominated the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer meta back in the day, and the attachments you'll need to get the most out of them. Today, we'll focus on the weapons.
Best Guns So Far in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Beta
The M4 is certainly the most reliable weapon in Modern Warfare 2.
I dont want to make the M4 sound like a boring item. After all, it's a lightning-fast, sneakily powerful, and astoundingly accurate weapon that is useful in a multitude of situations. It's just that the M4 is this strange sort of Call of Duty gun that does almost everything well but isnt generally worn by anyone at the moment. It's also quite durable, but it won't let a poor player through a match.
Given that the current MW 2 meta is fast enough to support a wide range of strategies and loadouts, there are very few reasons why you shouldnt give one of the most powerful weapons in the game a shot. However, you may soon prefer more complex weapons.
The Lachmann Sub is considered by quite a few people as the best weapon in Modern Warfare 2. To be honest, its hard to argue against that seemingly bold claim.
The Lachmann Sub is by all accounts the same Call of Duty MP5. That means it's accurate, fairly powerful in short-range situations, and, most importantly, fast. This gun is an excellent example of what it does well. It's a handheld Gatling pistol that spits out bullets like sunflower seeds.
Theoretically, this gun does suffer at extended ranges. However, the current meta means that you're much more likely to be in a position to utilize all that this gun offers.
This hybrid gun is technically more compatible with an SMG than an AR, but SMG enthusiasts who occasionally desire for a little more range will appreciate the extra versatility.
The Hurricane is a speed demon that has one of the game's best fire rates (at the moment). However, the fact that it also performs fairly well in mid-range combat situations means that the FSS Hurricane can sometimes outperform the Lachmann Sub.
Again, you may prefer a straight-up AR or SMG over this hybrid option. For the right player, though, this will end up being the only firearm you ever need.
The FTAC is expected to be a tough sell for a lot of Modern Warfare 2 players. It already has a strange burst firing technique that makes it somewhat awkward in close-range situations. That's a likely downside.
With only a few bursts, the FTAC is capable of defeating enemies at a slightly longer range. While it may take some time to get used to the way this gun encourages you to achieve those distances, its worth it in these situations.
If those other close-range meta weapons just don't seem to be working for you as well as they are for others, this is the gun you turn to.
Im not certain that this pistol is superior to the M4 or the FSS Hurricane. At the very least, this is an attachment-dependent weapon that requires a lot of effort to make itself a meta-rival.
Despite its shortcomings in power, this pistol does make up for it with both its accuracy and its ranged damage potential.
I think this revolver is a good investment at the moment. Learn to love it right now, and you might just dominate with it once more MW 2 attachments are released.
The Kastov-74U, which is another kind of hybrid weapon, leans more towards the SMG side of the spectrum. While it has a hard time competing with the Lachmann Sub as the best straight-up SMG option, it does have a couple of tricks on its sleeves.
The Kastov is an absolute damage monster that can outperform most ARs in terms of power and speed. The downside to this is that it is notoriously difficult to use. Even experienced players may have trouble staying on target.
However, if you can overcome that enormous hurdle, youll discover that the Kastov is straight up one of MW 2's strongest guns at the moment.
The Signal 50s advantages are obvious as MW 2's only sniper rifle option at the moment. The Signal 50s weaknesses are also apparent.
Thoughts on the subject are two reasons I'm considering (if not strongly recommending) this firearm.
First and foremost, this weapon is really powerful. If further MW 2 maps emphasize snipping, you'll want to know how to use it. Second, this gun will be an absolute monster in Warzone 2.
Best Loadouts and Attachments in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Beta
Some Modern Warfare 2 attachments are currently unavailable in the beta versions of the game. As such, some recommended attachments may change as additional options become available. If you do not see an attachment recommendation for a particular loadout category, that means that the attachment choice is up to you based on the best option currently available or your personal preferences.
